1-2-1 Coaching

Preparing for marathon is great. It’s hard. It’s exciting. It’s complicated. It’s insane. It’s enjoyable. It’s silly. It is unstable. It’s a test.

It is about 1 million other things as well, isn’t it?

  • Have you had success off and on and are looking for consistency?
  • Are you worried that you have hitched your ride to a choice that is the equivalent to playing the lottery: nothing but a game of chance?
  • Are you trying to cross that finish line but don’t understand where to start and what to include in your training to make the difference?
  • Would you like to have some accountability and someone to keep you on track?

If you answer “YES” to any of these questions, pay close attention!

I am about to offer you the best Marathon Training. No fluff; no cookie cutter strategies!

Running a marathon has the potential to be either the hardest experience of your life or the most uplifting. It all depends on how you handle your training and preparation for the big day.

The right plan can be the difference between you bursting across the finish line achieving your goal and barely being able to crawl.

Training for a marathon doesn’t have to be an exhausting process, where every spare moment of your day is spent in some kind of exercise limbo. If you are at all familiar with the saying, “If the shoe fits,” you’ll understand my philosophy. Just as each runner has a different level of skill set, each individual runner requires a training plan designed just for them. If this is the first time running in a marathon, you have a previous injury, or your current fitness level is average at best, I offer you a highly effective option.

It’s important to understand that comparing yourself to other runners is never the way to go. After all, if the shoe fits, you can run in it. But, trying to run in someone else’s shoes is only going to give you nasty blisters. An extensive training plan for a more experienced runner is not indicative of how far they will go when the race day comes. Even if your training plan is not nearly as grueling as your competitor’s, your greatest chance for success is found in working from your current level up. Keep your eyes on the finish line and focus on what you need to do. Don’t look at what everyone else is doing. Success is not found in how hard someone can train but in the effectiveness of the training plan.

Specifically created for the common running race distances, or other runner’s needs and goals such as beginners’ programs, these training plans will take your experience to a whole new level.

Why do you need this program?

Never let someone convince you that marathon training is simply luck and chance; it is a preemptive strike, a calculated move, all working toward one thing: a successful move. People aren’t wrong when they tell you it is a good opportunity. But, they also aren’t telling you the whole story. Just as chess has many winning combinations, it also has just as many losing combinations. I’ll make sure you learn all the tips and tricks in order to have great winning combinations!

I know exactly how to help you get the best from your training and have you bursting across the finish line!

I've never been particularly fit so when I signed up for the Bath Half Marathon Tony really had his work cut out for him! As a working mum with 2 young children I didn't know where to begin. Tony was such a massive help, creating a training plan that was tailored to my busy lifestyle and advising me on nutrition. It was never about faddy diets, just sensible eating to keep your body going during those long runs. Using Tony's advise I managed to lower my body fat and increase my fitness to a level I didn't think I would be able to achieve. More than anything I really appreciated his encouragement, when I had questions he was always there to advise and motivate me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tony to anybody!.

The whole experience has been seamless and working with such a highly skilled and empathic coach has really improved my running. My pace has improved by an average of nearly 2 minutes per mile and I have lost over 2 stone in weight! Tony was great, even though I had to drop out of the marathon due to ever increasing work commitments, he was a fantastic support and guided my thinking on how to deal with that very difficult scenario, helping me to understand that while this is difficult, it's not the end of the world to drop out of one 'race' for the sake of my health and that protecting myself is more important than this event! Had I not had Tony to bounce this off, I probably would have run and hurt myself (again!!)

Tony is a great running coach, with a heap of knowledge. Within minutes of showing Tony my technique, he was able to advise on exercises and drills to start working on. Already I can feel a difference and the only negative I'd have, would be not getting in touch sooner! Thank you
