Running a marathon has the potential to be either the hardest experience of your life or the most uplifting. It all depends on how you handle your training and preparation for the big day.

The right plan can be the difference between you bursting across the finish line achieving your goal and barely being able to crawl.

Training for a marathon doesn’t have to be an exhausting process, where every spare moment of your day is spent in some kind of exercise limbo. If you are at all familiar with the saying, “If the shoe fits,” you’ll understand my philosophy. Just as each runner has a different level of skill set, each individual runner requires a training plan designed just for them. If this is the first time running in a marathon, you have a previous injury, or your current fitness level is average at best, I offer you a highly effective option.

It’s important to understand that comparing yourself to other runners is never the way to go. After all, if the shoe fits, you can run in it. But, trying to run in someone else’s shoes is only going to give you nasty blisters. An extensive training plan for a more experienced runner is not indicative of how far they will go when the race day comes. Even if your training plan is not nearly as grueling as your competitor’s, your greatest chance for success is found in working from your current level up. Keep your eyes on the finish line and focus on what you need to do. Don’t look at what everyone else is doing. Success is not found in how hard someone can train but in the effectiveness of the training plan.

People aren’t wrong when they tell you it is a good opportunity. But, they also aren’t telling you the whole story. Just as chess has many winning combinations, it also has just as many losing combinations. I’ll make sure you learn all the tips and tricks in order to have great winning combinations!
